This new way of life is getting easier. I’m getting stronger. It’s 30 degrees this evening. My breath is showing itself in the crisp air. My teeth are chattering intermittently on the half-mile walk home, yet I’m involved in a texting conversation with my daughter in Brazil. This means my hands are out of their designated pockets, and I’m without gloves. Bon Iver’s “Halocene” is coming in through my headphones, and I’m not startled by random noises happening around me. My fears since the first day have since dissipated, and I’m enjoying this winter walk . The skies above are opening themselves up for me to star gaze, and that is exactly what I find myself doing.
